Priest Peter Kennedy on ABC 'Australian Story' made me think. Maybe his sin is that he offends the Roman part of Catholicism, and has slid into a possibly South Brisbane 'rite' of Catholicism.
The adjective 'Roman' applies more properly to the diocese of Rome, than to the worldwide church that is in union with the Bishop of Rome. Read Father Maguire's blog.

Do you have expertise with flowers?

For some time now our flower arrangements have been beautifully created each week by Jazzi and Margaret. Unfortunately, Jazzi will be leaving the parish shortly so we are in need of someone to take her place. If you can spare approx 2 hours on either a Friday or Saturday morning every 3 or 4 weeks, we would be very grateful for your help. Please contact Carol on 9699 2892 or email cp2711@hotmail.com for further details

Hospitality help needed

No doubt most parishioners are aware that Father Bob conducts baptisms most Sundays at 12 noon. We are currently looking for parishioners who would be happy to take turns to help on these occasions. You would need to be at the church for about an hour, starting 15 minutes before the ceremony is due to begin, to welcome family members and answer the questions they have, such as where to sit, when and where they can take photos and where the toilets are.
If you’re happy to help, please contact the Hospitality Team: Andy Sattler (sattler@internode.on.net or 0458 024 162) or Leonie Giuffrida (LGiuffrida@studygroup.com or 9681 6649

From Fr Bob Maguire - 30 April 2009

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Late in the afternoon of August 18 1966, as the Battle of Long Tan raged at a nearby rubber plantation, Australian commander Brigadier David Jackson grew more agitated by the minute at his headquarters at Nui Dat.
A few kilometers from the Australian base, 120 men from Delta company, 6th battalion Royal Australian Regiment (6 RAR), pinned down, were fighting for survival. They were about to run out of ammunition and in grave danger of being overrun by a 2000-strong force that included Vietcong fighters and a crack North Vietnamese army battalion.
Why is this relevant?
